Rudbeckia hirta ‘Sahara Mix’

Technically a Hardy annual, grown as an tender perennial . Rudbeckia hirta ‘Sahara Mix’ contains the most beautiful range for flowers, in varying shades of mahogany, gold, copper and chocolate. There really is nothing quite like it.
Heat and drought tolerant once established. They work amazingly well in containers or at the front of a border.
How to Grow:
Start seeds in mid-late February. Sow onto the surface of the compost. Seeds require light for germination, do not cover with soil.
Seeds benefit from a bit of warmth to trigger germination, 22-25°C is ideal.
Be careful not to overwater, Rudbeckia don’t like prolonged wet conditions and this can cause seedlings to rot.
I pot on into 9cm pots before planting out in June just, as gaps start to appear in the garden.
Rudbeckia will then go on to bloom right into Autumn, creating breath-taking displays.
