Black Indochinite Meteorite Impactite/Tektite 14.24 grams

Indochinite Meteorite Impactites/Tektites were formed when a large meteorite/asteroid impacted the region of the Indochinese Peninsula in ancient times & melted & ejected silicate material into the Earth's upper atmosphere & later cooled & fell back to Earth to form the characteristic black shapes of amorphous silicate glass containing gas bubbles & inclusions.  They are found from Australia & the Pacific islands of Micronesia in the east & south, to China & Indonesia in the north & west. Beware of volcanic pseudo-tektites like Columbianites/Agni Manitites. This specimen originates from the South China Sea area & resembles a tear drop.
