• grows in moist, well-drained, acidic soil but tolerant of many soil conditions
• does best in partial shade or sunny areas
• a spring-blooming flower with long, strappy leaves
• has a kind of messy, grass-like form to 12 inches
• shear the plants back after their last flowering to slow the spread
