Welcome to the Richmond, BC VarageSale Community.
ALL TRANSACTIONS MUST BE DONE IN RICHMOND.
Each profile must have a profile photo.
Each ad MUST have a Richmond pick up location
or it will be deleted.

This group is managed by volunteer administrators
who reserve the right to add or remove members at their discretion.
Absolutely no foul language,
cyber bullying or disrespectful behavior
towards your volunteer admin team
or your fellow members.
Any disrespect will NOT be tolerated and
will result in immediate removal from this group

As well, there is an expectation that if you are participating on this site, that you
respond to messages/questions etc.
within a reasonable amount of time.

Ignoring messages and not responding
to members is simply rude and
will result in your membership being revoked.
IN other words DO NOT waste each others time.

Members are expected to behave ethically towards each other. Immediate reselling of swap & shop items for a profit is not permitted and will result in immediate removal from the site.

Once there is an interested" comment,
you cannot back out of the deal
or you will be removed from the community.

In addition, you are NOT allowed to raise the price
of an item once there is an "interested" comment
or you will be removed from the community.
Do your research on how much your item is worth BEFORE posting.

POSTING:
All items posted within this community
MUST be available in Richmond.
EACH ad MUST have a Richmond pick up location. (Ironwood or Rmd Ctr Mall or name your cross streets)
If you're not in Richmond, you must be willing to deliver, or please don't post.
NO SHIPPING, NO MINIMUM PURCHASE
and NO DELIVERY FEES)

For out of town sellers, please include your Richmond pickup or drop off location in your description
or you MUST have this statement in your ad
if you are delivering anywhere
"WILL deliver to anywhere in Richmond"
or "WILL deliver to ______________" (ex. Ironwood).

FOR SELLERS:
-Please ensure that you have correctly edited your settings and you have selected the correct community/communities in which you would like to have your items posted in (Settings, Items Selling....)

-Please ensure that you update your post
with available, sale pending, or sold.
(All posts set to sold are automatically deleted
by VarageSale after 7 days.)

Once an item has been sold, change the Status,
DO NOT delete your posts.
DO NOT delete and repost your items.

There is a bump feature that allows you to
bump your item to the top of the feed
once every 7 days.

Please include a detailed description of your item.
(List the condition, pet/smoke free or pet/smoke friendly) Name brand, size, color etc.
The more details helps buyers make a decision
and not waste anyone's time).

This will enable better hits when members use the search bar. Location of pickup is required (area or major crossroads).

• In addition, we do not allow the sale of coupons. You may offer them for free or trade (but trading will not be regulated by admin).
• We do not allow the sale of pets.
• A reminder that as of December 29, 2016 it is prohibited to sell or advertise Drop-Side Cribs. Selling of prohibited items may result in immediate removal

FOR BUYERS:
You are expected to bring exact change when you make a purchase. Sellers are NOT expected to provide buyers with any change. Furthermore, not having exact change for an item does not entitle a buyer to back out of a transaction.

Asking questions DOES NOT put you in line for an item.
NO this is not obvious that you are interested in the item. People like to ask ?'s.

You MUST state INTERESTED or POSSIBLY INTERESTED or hit the INTERESTED button

-If you state "possibly interested",
you have 12 hours to contact the person
to either confirm or pass.

After 12 hours, without any communication,
the seller is free to move on to the next buyer.

If you advise the seller within the 12hrs that you are interested and would like to proceed with the purchase,
please refer to the following:

-Please honour the agreements you make as a buyer or seller. The general rule is that pickup should happen within 48 hours.

If you ask the Seller to hold an item for longer
than 48 hours then you are OBLIGATED
to purchase the item.
It is not fair if you back out of a sale after the seller holding an item(s) for you.

It is up to the SELLER to confirm this obligation
in a message so that there isn't any confusion.

(IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ITEM AND WOULD LIKE TO VIEW OR TRY IT ON,
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST DO SO WITHIN 24HRS OF CONFIRMING THE PURCHASE SO THAT IF
YOU DECIDE TO NOT TAKE THE ITEM, THE SELLER CAN MOVE ONTO THE NEXT INTERESTED PERSON).

NO SHOWS:
A no show is having made arrangements
and then not showing up.
You must message the person BEFORE
the set time to let them know you cannot make it.
If you don't, this is a NO SHOW.

-If you back out of a sale once an arrangement has been made then that is considered a "no-show"
and we have a 3 "no-show" rule which will result in removal from the group. The exception would be if the item isn't what it was represented to be or if you ask to try first. A warning will be issued if there are several valid complaints, and removal from the group if this is ignored.

-If one member commented privately via messages
and another member commented on main wall,
please check the time stamp. Whom ever messaged/commented first via the time stamp is first in line.
Yes, this is done on the honor system.
Lets be adults about this.

-All sellers are required to follow up with interested buyers in order by 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.

-Buyers are given a 24HR TIME LIMIT to check messages (including "seen" msg) and respond back to the seller. After 24HR, sellers can move onto the next interested buyer in line.

-Tagging is NOT considered as first in line, unless it is tagged by the seller themselves for first dibs.

-Do NOT delete any comments on your posts or delete your comments on another person's post. If you decide to pass on an item, simply state "pass."

-If your item is posted on other swap sites,
you must note "Cross Posted" in your description.

Should someone be interested in that item on both sites, please use a time stamp to determine who gets the item.

Having the same prices on your items when cross posted is respectable.
-Do not change the price of your item after someone is interested. This is common courtesy on all sites.
If you are looking to see who takes the highest price, please place your item on the bidding site not here.
-DO NOT cross post on a bidding site. Choose one - not both. Cross posting on bidding site may result in immediate removal from this site.

SMALL BUSINESS POSTINGS:
If you own a small home based business, please post your card in the business directory.

You are allowed to advertise that you are a consultant for businesses such as Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Avon, Tupperware etc.
but you are not allowed to "recruit" members. In the regular category sections we DO NOT allow consultant sales or service solicitations.

All items in those categories must be on hand and belong to you.

If it has to be ordered, it's a consultant sale/purchase and not allowed.

THE SELLING OF FOOD RELATED ITEMS:
If you are selling items that are made within your home,
or within a food safe kitchen, please note that the sale of these items IS allowed,
however the following details must be included in the description:
-Kitchen that was used (ie: Foodsafe, commercial or home kitchen)
-Any possible allergies or cross contamination issues for special diets
-Details of what is included in the item, how long it is good for, when it was made and pick up location
**ADMINS are NOT responsible for falsely advertised items, allergic reactions or any possible issues
with food related items, ALL FOOD items purchased are at your own risk.

Most swap sites are Buyer Beware, so please inspect the items before you take it home as once you have paid for the item,
it becomes a final sale. There are NO REFUNDS unless an item is faulty (like electronics) and buyer should contact seller within 48 hours*
If you sell a faulty item knowing it does not work, you will be banned from this site.
Don't waste each others time or take advantage of people.

If you are LEAVING GOODS OUTSIDE YOUR HOME FOR PICKUP
you must realize that it is not without some risk.
Unfortunately there are less than honest people everywhere -
even in our idyllic little community of Richmond so please be smart, protect yourself and your belongings.
(Perhaps hide different items in different spots. Have a neighbour check that the money was left out somewhere.)

PLEASE USE YOUR COMMON SENSE when making arrangements to buy and sell items.
