The Dairyman's Daughter (1850) written by Reverend Legh Richmond, a Clergyman of the Church of England, London, England. MINIATURE RARE, 224 pgs.
Provenance: This book belonged to my great great grandmother, Emily Jane Wardell. My great grandmother brought it with her when she emigrated from England to Canada in 1912.
An authentic narrative of the religious experience of Elizabeth Wallbridge. Elizabeth’s story was written by her friend and confidante, Reverend Legh Richmond. He became acquainted with Elizabeth Wallbridge, the Dairyman's Daughter, when he officiated the funeral of her sister. Elizabeth described how she turned from the vanity of dressing finely and clothed herself with humility of Christ. The visits and letters between them are recorded in this rich testimony of God's work. The success of the story led many to make the pilgrimage to Arreton to visit the grave of The Dairyman's Daughter, including Queen Victoria.
