I’m gifting a coveted hockey permit for the Kew Beach ice rink at the foot of Lee Avenue. A group of my friends have held the permit for more than 30 years. It’s one hour of ice time on Thursdays from 9-10 p.m.

There is still a group of dedicated people that would love to continue to play but as we age and people move away and our circle of friends start to shrink we find it challenging to get enough dedicated players out each week. Remember this is old-time hockey out doors in the dead of winter, and one of the most exhilarating experiences you will ever have if you’re a hardcore hockey fan.

Plain and simple we need to bring in new blood to keep this tradition going. We’d like someone local (beaches) preferably to step up and organize this skate. This is the perfect opportunity for someone over 35 that has a small network of local friends that love the game of hockey, we play full equipment with two goalies.

Responsibilities of the permit holder include the following:

- Confirm registration of the permit with the city of Toronto – We can help get it transferred to your name
- Supply the annual deposit to the city, approx. $1,200
- Collect your deposit back from your friends (harder than it might sound)
- Contact players and monitor the city website on game days (this is a weather permitting skate)
- Organize goalies (also harder than it might seem)
