When the desk top is opened, your work surface is right there and the sewing machine lifts and secures into its proper place, ready to work for you. This machine sews both straight stitches and zigzag stitches. Everything is easily adjustable.
The desk also has 3 drawers for sewing notions, etc. There are lots of spools of thread included, many bobbins, backup needles, the original manual guide, several optional "feet" and attachments, even a button hole maker. Lots of goodies. You only need to add a chair, scissors, fabric, and a comfortable location.
The desk is smooth surface red formica/arboritematerial, easy to maintain.
