This is a large toby pitcher or character jug with a lid.  It features a man seated on a chair and he is holding a pitcher of foamy beer with two hands   He has a brown glaze reminiscent of the style of glaze rockingham used. 

He is wonderfully detailed with a colonial style coat featuring buttons up the front, on the sleeve cuffs and around the pockets.  His boots are laced with bows on the bottom front and bows on the sides under the knee.  He is wearing a shirt with a ruffled collar and a tricorn hat over his long hair.  A penetrating gaze and a toothy smile round out this marvelous fellow!
