The is a wonderful vintage hand-crafted pottery figurine.
This figure sits with bent legs, belt, necklace, and bracelets.
The face is comprised of incised features, a small protruding nose, and large earspools. The head is adorned with a headdress. This figure is an elite member of society, as indicated by the headdress and jewelry.
The surface of the pottery has darker areas from firing. The naturalistic sitting pose of this petite figure is quite charming!
Figure is in excellent vintage condition. The pottery surface needs dusting as it has been in storage for decades.
Bottom is marked MEXICO. Purchased by my husband in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the early 1980’s.
